Something I missed in my Star Wars nerdiness spell

Troy Denning, author of the best Star Wars book ever (Star By Star) has started a post-New Jedi Order 3 book series. Denning isn't quite my favorite SW author, but he's pretty close. Yes, I'm this nerdy.

Anyway, in one of the interviews about the series he mentions "many funerals". Well, it's good that they are getting away from the NJO and it's runaway lightheartedness.

If you're stuck with this post and you don't know what I mean by this, the NJO was unrelentingly grim and featured a death toll in the gazillions.

It was however, pretty damned good .

How about Timothy Zahn as the best Star Wars author? His trilogy: Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and the Last Command would have made a far better set of movies than the "prequels"... much better bad guys... cool new places... cool new aliens... plus the story moves forward... with the prequels you already know what the ending is going to be... and episode I was too similar to the story line of episode IV...

I'd go with Zahn too, though I think Star by Star on an individual basis is better than any one of his sequels. Oh, and most things are better than the prequels.

I'll have to pick that up on my next visit to the bookstore. Thanks for the reference, Mr Frinklin!
