It's Barry Bonds, it has to be.

For those who persist in saying that Adrian Beltre or Scott Rolen or whomever is the NL NVP, remember this from Gammons column this morning:

On Aug. 27, the difference in OPS between Barry Bonds and Adrian Beltre was one point less than the difference between Beltre and Rey Sanchez.

I know he's a jackass, but he's the best player in baseball, and no one is even close. If any voter picks anyone other than Barry, they are an idiot.

For the record, as of ESPN's stats right now, Bonds is .361 ahead of Beltre in OPS, .389 ahead of Rolen.

Yeah, but is the best player necessarily the most valuable

I don't think it's as clear-cut as you make it seem here, but I'd probably vote for Bonds too. His being an idiot is not irrelevant. He is supposed to be valuable to his team and his idiocy does reduce his value.

Yeah, but is the best player necessarily the most valuable? And, isn't it possible that SBC park is a better park for him to hit in than is Dodger Stadium for Beltre?

sorry about the double post above.

Well, I would disagree about on Dodger Stadium or SBC is harder hit in, I look at this way: which would be better a Beltre-less Dodger team or a Bond-less Giants. A case could be made that without Barry Bonds, the Giants are the weakest team in the NL.
