James Doohan, Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott from Star Trek, died today at his home in Redmond, Washington. I was actually lucky enough to meet James Doohan more than once; his home in Redmond was close to where I grew up. I would run across him at ordinary places like the video store and supermarket. He was always unfailingly polite and always receptive to a hello and handshake from fans. A genuinely nice man who will be missed.
